Community engagement is one of the core values of the Criminal Justice department and university. This year, we are thrilled to celebrate Eilene Frierson, the Administrative Manager of Training, Training Outreach, and Center Operations at Temple University’s Inside-Out Prison Exchange Program, for her exceptional dedication to our community. Eilene has been honored with the Love & Light Tour Award by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Established in January 2024, this award shines a light on extraordinary individuals and organizations that embody love, light, and upliftment in our community. Eilene’s unwavering compassion and tireless efforts have made a profound impact on advocating for quality care and treatment for patients, especially in marginalized communities. Her dedication shines through in her pivotal role in developing and implementing Philadelphia's first interpreter services program at a teaching hospital.
Moreover, her commitment extends to the vital area of reentry simulation, where she has dedicated herself in recent years. Jacqueline C. Romero, U.S. Attorney, expressed admiration for Eilene’s remarkable contributions, describing her as “the most wonderful woman who shows up to every single reentry simulation and communication and assisted the U.S. Attorney's Office in organizing several reentry simulation events.” Eilene’s unwavering dedication and kindness manifest the spirit of compassion and service, leaving an everlasting impact on our community.
