Graduate Student Advising
CLA graduate students are assigned a faculty advisor when they are admitted into a degree program. Students consult their advisors each semester to ensure they are taking the appropriate courses to complete their degree program. Faculty advisors provide students with guidance and constructive feedback about academic and related career/personal goals and make recommendations for electives that align with student’s goals and interests. They also inform students of academic opportunities related to goals and degree (i.e., research opportunities).
Students receive additional academic support from the Graduate Director of their program. The Director of Graduate Studies provides graduate students guidance about registration, transfer credits, course related information and with information about college and graduate school deadlines, processes and forms.
Orientation and Resources for Graduate Students
The Office of the Dean in the College of Liberal Arts is committed to providing programming that promotes a health, successful and productive experience in our graduate programs. This includes mental health and wellness, professional development, and career diversity. Programming events are posted on the CLA events page.
