Engaged Teaching Faculty Fellowship
The CLA Engaged Teaching Fellowship supports CLA instructors in developing and implementing community engaged teaching strategies in their classrooms. Through this fellowship, faculty gain resources and support to integrate community engaged teaching in their course for the 2024-2025 academic year, engage with current research and best practices in the field, and connect with other faculty utilizing community engaged scholarship pedagogies.
Fellowship Expectations:
Commitment to integrating the elements of community engaged teaching (see back page) into the instructional plan for their course.
Attendance at three, 90-minute professional development sessions over the course of the semester, which will include networking, reflection, and guest speakers.
Participation in community engaged learning program evaluation for the course, including facilitation of student feedback at the conclusion of the course.
Benefits:
- $2,000 fellowship stipend.
- Up to $2,000 to spend on community engagement activities and/or materials.
- Planning and logistical support for the course.
How to Apply:
The Faculty Community Fellows Program is open to CLA faculty with full-time appointments in the 2024-2025 academic year. Proposals for undergraduate courses will receive priority, though proposals for graduate courses will also be considered. Up to three fellowships will be awarded with approval from the Department Chair and the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts.
To apply, please submit a statement of interest (up to 300 words) and a 1–2-page course proposal that addresses the following:
- Overview of the course and learning objectives.
- How community engagement might further these learning objectives.
- Your vision for the format of the community interaction.
- Any prospective partners you have in mind for this project.
